Are you tired of my buildalong?
May be this one will be the only one with in next few years.
I need a 44lbs bow,and my remained stuff just can build one.
-
Hera,
Did you mean "buildalong"? Heck no, I'm not tired of watching you build bows. You're an inspiration, particularly for those of us that don't have thousands of dollars in motorized shop equipment.
If you run out of wood and materials we're going to have to solicit donations so you can have something to work with!
Please keep posting.
-
Thank you Tom,I'm just a new hobby bowyer who struggle to make a bow.
This one will be a TD recurve, yew limb and East india rosewood riser.around 44lbs@27".
-
Tired of them? Nope, just the opposite!
-
Hera...we love your build-a-longs...Please keep posting them...They are a testament to what can be done with simple hand tools!!!
David
-
Hera,
Always got time to read your stuff.
Your buildalongs are very well done, and a great inspiration for guys (like me) who thought that one needs a fully equipped shop, to build a bow.
Hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy many more of your buildalongs! :campfire:
-
Hell no I'm not tired of seeing your work. Keep it coming!
-
Hera, Please continue with the buildalongs!!! If it wasnt for the buildalongs I would still be wondering how to make a bow. I use some of your methods with the hand saws with very good results! Thanks for sharing.- Greg

The only thing I am tired of is not being able to build a bow as pretty as you do.
Very nice. You add quite a few touches to your product. Anyone of us would have been estatic about the riser as it was. Then you added the overlays to enhance it even more. That is work you can be proud of.
Looking forward to seeing the final bow.
-
Am I tired of watching a master craftsman building beautiful bows with hand tools and a belt sander?
NOOOOOOO!!!
Hera, the only thing I don't like, is that you take away all my excuses for not building more bows than the few I built many years ago.

The shape of grip is critical to shooting. 1 or 2mm in thickness on certain important positions will make a huge difference on shooting.

Hera, your craftsmanship and artistic talent is awesome and inspiring. To build a bow like that with the limited tools you use is a testament to your outstanding skills. Job well done. I hope you enjoy shooting it as much as we enjoyed watching you build it.

Limb pad glue to the limb, not riser. The reason is reduce the impact while releasing.

When installing your tillering blocks, do you have a device for string the bow? Even a light poundage bow would be tough to string by hand without the tips tapered. Chad

Hello Chad
Sorry, I did not take the pic of installing tillering blocks. Basically, I placed the bow on the floor. Then I knelt in front of it, with one foot on the riser and one end of a rope tied around my waist and the other around the limb Once I stood up, the limb would be curved, and the tillering block could be installed easily.

Hera,
I am truly amazed at your hand work. That my friend is a truly custom handmade bow.
Best regards.

Thanks, Chad
