Title: fix surface scratches?
Post by: maxfit on September 10, 2008, 12:05:00 PM
What is the best way to "rub" out some faint white surface scratches on my limbs. Thanks.

Depending on your surface (gloss or dull) and size of scratches you can use automotive rubbing compounds and/or some fine sandpaper-wet sand with 800 and higher- depending on the surface and size of scratch.
You want to avoid overdoing too-you may be better off in filling some scratches-artist's brush works well.
First thing I'd try is a good auto polish-not wax-and go from there.
Be careful; 'less is more' when you are fixing existing surfaces.

Maguires, has a product (I forget the name) that removes scratches, I guess it fills them and polishes them. Just search for their site and check it out.

Flitz metal polish is what I use and have had good results.
