OK I have a new bow coming and need to select arrows for it. Right now I am between the Gold Tip heritage 55/75 and the CE heritage 250's.
It's a hybrid longbow 57# at my draw of 27", and cut a little past center.
My plan is to put 100gr inserts & 125 gr heads starting at a full length shaft & cut till it bareshafts properly. I want an arrow that ends up pretty close to 600 grains, a few either way is no biggie. Seems like the GT will require additional weight tubes to get there, but the CE should top right close.
any thoughts to my plan? Any other carbon arrows worthy to try?
Anyone?
Should I try the 150's and 35/55's instead?
Six of one, half a dozen of the other to be honest. It makes no real difference either way. 50% of folks seem to swear by the CX, the other 50% love the GTs
Also depends upon your form, release, etc...
You may need a bit more weight than that up front with the heavier spines, especially for that short arrow.
You'd probably end up with about a 29" arrow and about 250 up front...but hard to say until you actually bareshaft 'em.
See Ya,
Marc
I agree with Marc, I have shot the 250s off of a 57# high performance cut well past center and I draw 28.5"s I cut them to 29.5"s and need 225 up front for good flight, I think you will need at least a 29" arrow with 250-275 up front. Why do ya want a 600 grain arrow, it has been proven if ya go with a high FOC ya can get away with an arrow quite a bit lighter and get the same penetration. I shoot a 500 grain arrow out of my 54# and 567# recurves with high FOC and I get better penetration than a 575 grain arrow without the high FOC. Shawn
In reality I don't much care what my arrow weighs, but lots of people are telliing me to get as close or over 600 as I can. I figured 600 & hi FOC would be good. But if I can get away with 500-550 and not have issues, I won't sweat the 600 threshold.
Since weight doesn't seem to be a huge issue, I guess I could go with the lower spined arrows and I should be alright with around 200-225 up front?
WOW..... Shawn, you draw a 567# bow ????
:knothead: :knothead: :biglaugh:
all kidding aside, My monkey arms (30.5" Draw) I cant use the 100gr Brass inserts in my 55/75's, they fly weak even with 100gr points (200 total up front).....
I wanted to ditch the weight tubes and use high FOC to get the weight up.... I am going to try 75/95's full length....
Best thing to do is start full length, get the weight up front and start trimming from the back 1/2" at a time till you get good flight....
