Here is my first attempt at a self bow. I have been working on here and there since Feb or March. I have to thank Darren Shue for giving me the osage stave for the bow. I wanted to do something that I had never seen on a bow before, so I decided to try backing it with Turkey feathers from a bird I got this spring. Let me know what you think. I also put walnut side plates and shelf on it, which might be a sin to the hard core osage guys.
Also, what do you think I can put of the wood and the feathers that will seal off the feathers and also no crack. (http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e394/aje138/BOW1.jpg)http://[/IMG]

Very cool!

The exact words, very cool. Tru Oil should work but maybe someone with more finish expertise will chime in.

Very nice job. Interesting backing. Jawge

Here is a pic at full draw. There is a hinge in the bottow third of the bottom limb that I could not get rid of.

Fantastic backing idea, I would think that would be great camo for almost anywhere.
Good job on the bow.

Looks nice - did you glue the feathers down with TBIII or some other glue?
-
 looks cool and I too vote for tru oil

Hey you stole my idea! Have seen feather backings before buy never exactly like that. Nice job.

A friend did the same with pheasant feathers, he used spray polyurethane to seal and stabilize the feathers.
