Hello all,
Thought I better introduce myself before bombarding you all with questions.
I'm from South Africa and been shooting traditional bow for about 6 months now.
Shot a 35# longbow for about 5 months but now shooting a Viper 68" longbow, 55#@ 28" which is what I draw.Bow is cut about 1/8" before centre and shooting Easton XX75 2213 arrows.
There are no trad archery shops within about 4 hours from here so getting accesories is a real problem.
I am looking for some links on longbow setup, shelf material, bow quietening etc as I don't want to bore you with thousands of questions before I try to sort myself out.
Many thanks for any advice.
Welcome to TragGang, Roderick.
Since I shoot a recurve, I'll let someone else answer your longbow questions.
Welcome to the gang, and get ready to have some fun. Don't worry about asking too many question.
There are a lot of good folks on here who are more then happy to help.
Alan

I'm new here as well. Been lurking around and gathering info as I'm waiting for my first trad bow to be made.
Here are a couple of links people directed me to for bow tuning:
http://bowmaker.net/index2.htm
http://www.centenaryarchers.gil.com.au/basic1.htm
Hope that helps.
Welcome to the site :campfire: Whatever questions you might have just go ahead and ask. That's what this place is all about - sharing and helping each other.
Thanks for the links jts15, seems like the more I read the less I realize I know.
You guys seem to have got this shooting thing down to a fine art.
No Bowhunting stories from this neck of the woods yet but hoping to have some in the future.
Welcome to camp!
Welcome.
You couldn't have come to a better place to learn the ropes. Good luck!
Hey yall,
One more new shooter that has come down with the sickness they call traditional archey. I have looked at a lot of diffrent forums and have never seen a group so willing to help and support people for the good of traditional archery.Just wanted to say thanks in advance for the help getting started in trad.
"seems like the more I read the less I realize I know."
That is the troof no matter what the subject! Even the stuff I learned as a kid isn't the same any more. I think they change the facts over the years to keep us from getting bored.
That's OK, it will all come full circle if we wait long enough. And pointy shoes are back in style...
Killdeer (welcome!) :wavey:
