I have been looking at the bow making materials for sale on 3rivers archery web site.
It seems to have got me thinking about making my own bow. I have tryed making a bow out of a single piece of wood, i am not that good at carving and did a terrible job, i mean it would flick an arrow in a general direction. lol
So i was looking that the items on three rivers and they seem to sell all sorts of glass , woods , laminations and goodies, but i dont have a clue what you can do with them.
So i thouhgt about asking here for any advice, reccomended websites, some think that i can read to give me some idea of what kind of bows you can make, ect
I have gone though the how to , area on this site but looking for more information.
Manny Thanks

I second the Binghams site. Everything you need to build a very good bow. Watch out it's hard to build just one.

You might want to start with buying a bow blank and finishing that first. You would get a lot of insight of what is involved and have a shooter when done. The longbow blank sold at 7lakes longbows would make a nice bow and for a good price if you are looking a glass bow.I think one of the sponsers on this site sells wood/bamboo blanks that look very nice as well. jmo

I would have to agree with James on this one, try a glue-up first, lets you get your feet wet without a total soaking,
I did a couple glue-ups, a couple board bows, then refinished and customized probably 3 dozen before I built my first lam bow, Bingham's is a great resource but there's a whole lot more to learn.bowbuilding is addictive,lol,lol....Steve

I would say this (having just completed my first glass lam R/D bow.)....number one, YOU CAN DO IT! Go slow, ask questions (especially here, there are a million friends willing to answer your questions!), and make sure your cutting the correct side of the bow! Going slow wasn't slow enough for me and I made a LEFT handed bow when I am a righty...want to buy a real nice left hand R/D Hybrid for a great price? Binghams is a GREAT company, but thier website is lacking.... check out www.geocities.com/salampsio/index.html (http://www.geocities.com/salampsio/index.html) for the best build along I know of. Good luck.
