I just bought some new limbs for my bob lee. I previously had 58# limbs on it. With the new 49# @ 28" limbs, my old arrows arent flying just perfect. I'm drawing 30 inches by the way. Shooting 125 grain heads.
So does anyone shoot a similar setup? If so, what arrow specs are giving you good flight?
I shoot carbons...mainly goldtip. I have shot 5575's pretty much exclusively.
thanks
kyle
What's the arrow doing Kyle ?
A 100 grain insert might let you still use those with a 125 grain head. But you will most likely need to drop a spine to keep using a 125.
pumatrax, that a good question, lol. I really haven't paid too close of attention because ive been focusing too much on my shooting. I just know they are not giving me perfect boat propellers.
vermonster, i may try that.
The drop from 58# to 49# is huge; and it will take a ton of metal to soften those shafts enough so you can use them with the new limbs, as you are already noticing.
Try bareshafting with a heavy insert and use a heavy tip, but I agree with Vermonster you will need new shafting-and why not?
Aluminum or Carbon....
Aluminum I would say 2016....
Carbon Vaporwoods 3000 w/100 Grain Brass inserts and 125 up front....
Bjorn has it right. I had some 55/75 Goldtips and could not soften them with 100 grain bh inserts and 125 grain heads, and that was with 50 pounds. If you like Goldtips go with 35/55. I like 2016 aluminum for that weight and length.
i appreciate the insight guys. I been kinda havin a hankerin to try some aluminum, so this might be a good opportunity.
George, Kyle is drawing around 55# on that bow at his draw.
I shoot that set-up and I use GT 35/55's. They fly perfect out of both my Zipper, my Border, and my Hybrid Southern Draw Longbow.
Greg
Vermonster13, I figured that as well, but those stinkin' 55/75's are stiff though...you could use them to pry off hubcaps 8^).
I agree with you there. But if the arrows are full length with 100 grain insert he has a chance, though not a real good one with only 125 points.
I bet you would like some 2018's works for me in my Lee with 56 and 54 lb. limbs.Kip
