All year long I have read all of your stories and seen posted pictures
I had visulized these moment for a long time , and never did I imagine I was going to be as pleased as I am now
I wanted a good buck but any buck with my long bow would have been a trophy
I placed my ground blind on Friday in the middle of the day in a place where there was a lot of deer sign
My first morning in the blind this buck came walking by 6.5 year old 8 point buck , the rest is in the pictures
Bob lee signature long bow with short 15 riser 53@27 with mfx beeman classic arrows and 125gr snuffers (these are great!!!!) they do whistle but make a lot of damage

One of the higlights of the hunt is that the deer ran only 60 yds,
at first I taught I had hit him a little to the left but the arrow got both of the lungs and the main arteries to the heart.
I still waited 3 hrs to search for him because of previous bad experiences
and found the boken arrow at 6 yds where I had shot him, the blood trail was abundant and the buck was close by, I belive he died some minutes after the shot
-
Awsome! That is a great first deer! how far was the shot?
-
the shot was at 10 yards , I placed a pop up blind and the sun was coming up from behind me so he took some time coming in but gave me a very close shot
-
That is a big deer. I'm very happy for you my friend. Great shot too.

Great trad shot Gerardo,
Cuando comentas Snuffers, te refieres a las ss ?
Gran punta y mejor flecha.
Felicidades, de que parte de Monterrey?
Luis

These are the normal screw in snuffers, there is a link on youtube how to sharpen the woodsman's with that I got them pretty sharp

sweet buck! the only downside to shooting a buck like that for your first is what do you shoot next to top it? i sold a super mag 48 to someone in monterrey, mexico back in the summer.
-
Congrats Sir!!!!!
Are you sure he was just an 8 point?....looks like a 9 to me.

well you can call him a 9 point with the little point on the main beam, thanks terry
we are a few trad shooters here in mty probably going to see your super mag in a shoot

These is in the north part of Monterrey.
Monterrey is one of the largest industrial citites in Mexico.
Being 2 hrs drive to Laredo, Texas
It is basically the same south texas country

-
congrats...that's a great buck buddy!
-
That is one fine deer!
-
Did you take it in the area of General Trevino or Doctor Gonzalez?
I heard some stories of monster deer comming out of those areas and if your's is from the vicinity, I may have to look into setting up a hunt in that area with some aquaintances I have.
Gerardo, that is the biggest deer I have ever seen, body wise, and I used to do a lot of hunting in the Paras, Nuevo Leon and Guerrero, Tam. areas a few years ago.
Felizidades en un venado tremendo.
Alex

thank you alex, i think the paras and guerrero area are a lot better gentics like they have a wider spread, I have also seen some pics of Dr Gzz
the population has grown considerably in the resent years here in mexico, and gentics are good if we hunt old deer they usually havve a good rack,
these hunt was close to lampazos, I have a lease on juarez cohuila also, my wife took a 160 two years ago there, and the deer are pretty nice up there hope in getting my second one there
our season just started and ends until january
do you bow fish? because of your nick,
-
Very nice buck! Well done! ;)
-
Yes sir, Gerardo, I bowfish just about every chance I get. I'm planning on visiting a buddy's place here in Guerrero this weekend if time permits, and I agree with you on the genetics of the deer in Northern Mexico. My dad took one with a 23" spread a few years ago and we were always taught to only shoot deer with atleast a 16" spread. In that lease we had a buck we called El Diablo, we only saw him on occasion, and everyone that hunted with us had atleast one shot at him, nobody ever connected. Rifle, bow that buck knew where the safe zone was and the closest we ever got was when I jumped him from a cactus patch one windy day. Of course I didn't have an arrow nocked and he stayed there looking at me for a minute before bounding away. Man I need to get back to Mexico and do some hunting, it's a whole new world across the river.

nice buck, partner
