Tried one of these out today at the UBM get together and couldn't believe how good it shoots. I was scrambling trying to sell one of my bows to raise enough money to buy one, but fell short. I will have one asap. I believe this bow outshot the widows I tried too. All that for half the price! Mark
Loved mine too and wish I hadn't sold it. I have another on order right now.
Dan
I know exactly how you feel. I still get blown away by the performance every time I shoot mine. I've bought a number of recurves over the years that are known for their speed, but as it stands right now, my MOAB is the fastest trad bow I've owned.
I cant wait to get my hands on mine only 2 months left.60" 56@28 TAMO ASH
I have about a month wait left. 62" 58#@28" take down. Really looking forward to getting it in my hands.
AAHHHH. Get this. My wife gives me permission to borrow the money from the savings account, and I go back to buy the bow and they're closed for the night. I may try to go back in the morning before church and see if he's there.
Ouch! Leave a note on his truck tonite!! LOL
Only reason I sold the one I had was I like to shoot bows I've made. Don't know why, they don't shoot any better or maybe not as good as any other. I'm bettin you'll love it! Good luck catchin up with him.
Flatlander man law when you get it .And thank your understanding wife.
Which one did you shoot, Mark? I tried a 60" 47@28 (I think) MOAB that was very smooth and seemed pretty quick. Have to agree that the MOAB is a dandy bow, and Jim seemed like a real nice fellow too! That little charcoal stained Mag he had there shot pretty good for a bow that short.
From the interaction I had with the man and the bows, I'd say Thundersticks are about as good a bang for the buck as there is out there!!!
Curtis, I shot the 59@28 60" one, which at my draw length was 54/55 I'm guessing. It seemed very quick and accurate to me. Jim was very nice to talk to. I think I will attempt to get there around 9 in the morning and see if anyone is there. The charcoal one was very nice also, but a little on the light side for me.
Great bows and great guy too. Very reasonable at todays prices too.MOAB is a sweet bow.
Take some photos and share guys...PLEASEEEEEEEEE. :) mARK
I just did some trading for one. It hasn't arrived yet, but now I'm even more excited for it to get here.
Boy do you have some sucking up to do! Hope you have time to shoot it after all the chores momma is going to give you.LOL. Good luck!
I go to the website and get confused by all the different MOABs. :help: What are the advantages of each model? :confused:Which one do you choose?
Thanks
How long is the wait time?
Thanks
There is only one MOAB There are many Thundersticks including the little Mag model.
IIRC...Jim told me that he was running right at about 6 months on new orders.
Bentpole,
So the concensus is that the MOAB is better than all the other thundersticks?
Paul
Well guys, I went back this morning, and it was there. I shot it for about ten minutes, and gave it back. I was practical, and decided to wait and save all the money for next months hog hunt. It sucks, but I can still order one with the exact woods I want later, all with the permission of my wife!
And as a fellow Michigander, I can tell you Jim Reynolds has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be a trustworthy, first class bowyer by doing it the old fashioned way, he has EARNED it.
Year in and year out, he makes great bows, stands behind them and does a lot to humbly support traditional archery.
Paul it depends on "what floats your boat". The regular ThunderStick is more of a lightly reflex/deflex Traditional style D longbow. The II and III are heavily reflexed /deflexed[hybrid] style longbow. The III has double taper lams [longer riser]. The Mag is Jim's little guy smaller version of the II or III . The MOAB is the Mother of All Bows Boo cores are standard. I guess Jim calls it that for a reason. flatlander sorry to hear you didn't buy the bow but the hog trip sounds more important to me too.
I have a Thunderstick II 60# @ 28". Best bow i have ever shot, liked it better than my freinds widow. How does it shoot compared to a MOAB? Can't wait to get my hands on one!!!
I had a TS III which is a step up from the TS II, and a MOAB which pulls 3# more than the TS III and shoots the same 625-30 grain arrows 10-11 f.p.s faster. Both TS III and MOAB are smooth bows.
I've known Jim for more years than either one of us will admit. Just a super guy!!!
His bows are not only superbly crafted, they possess incredible speed and "shootability".
:notworthy:
I just obtained a TS III from the classifieds here and it smokes an arrow, and is a dream to shoot. Would like to try out a MOAB though.
Have a 62 inch model at home and ordered a 56 inch mag from Jim at the UBM bnquet this weekend.
Jim's bows are top notch and Jim is a pleasure to work with.
I was awfully afeared to go back and shoot it any more than the three arrows I launched. I've had several of Jims' bows and all were top of the line in all areas. I hope you made your purchase and don't mind any moisture you found on it.. I wasn't the only person drooling over them..lol
God bless,Mudd
I have a Mag due any day now.
Jeff.....when I get to shooting again, I'll let ya know how it shoots. It'll make the trip to Cloverdale...hope you can also.

Bought one last year at the WV Trad/Prim Expo (54 lbs. @28", 60"long, quilted maple lams). It have been moved up to "#1 bow" status!
(posted photo's last spring). I shot it at all my 3D's travels. 'Took a doe on Halloween evening this past hunting season. It's a great bow!

I have shot several models of Jims Bows....and the 60 inch MOAB is my choice. I've got 3 and a MOAB 'to go' on the way.
Thats one great looking bow.I hope my bow turns out that good. Thanks 3under.
Terry i know you have a tamo ash what others do you have.
You're welcome Ben.
(from a former buckeye!)
Otto, I will be there, barring life gettin' in the way....
With a lil' luck I will have a mag by then.
My 60" MOAB is a barn burner that's got great stability and pointability ...

Nice bows, Rob thats diffrent. Thanks Rob and Terry.
3Under,
What kind of veneers are those?
was gonna ask the same thing, then seen they are quilted maple in his previous post...Mike
Rob and Terry, those are beautiful bows. Another reason I chose to hold off this weekend is so I can get exactly the woods I want like the two of yours. I really liked the darker bamboo laminations on the bow I shot though. Mark
