After a couple months in Hawaii and skinning/gutting/boning a couple goats.

Sheath is colored with teak oil and olive oil.

Question. there is a hairline crack across the top of the blade spine. Any ideas why?

What did you quench it in?

Nice, looks like it performed as planned.

Did you temper it after the heat treat?

I did temper it. But I did all the heating in a fire pit in the back yard. It was a big spruce fire. It got plenty hot. My father guided me by color. He has done this a time or two, but we are both wondering about the hairline crack.
