Title: Walnut hunter
Post by: bjansen on January 04, 2015, 08:15:00 AM
I finished this blade yesterday.  It is 7.5" overall and has just under a 3.5" W2 blade.  It is .166 at the ricasso and I made it by stock removal.  I made two of these blades and the other knife is still a work in progress.  The handle is a piece of old walnut found in my grandpa's workshop. The board had to be sitting there for at least 25 years and was never used because the curly grain led to severe tearout when he planed it down.  I cut it up and sent it off for stabilizing and I think it turned out fairly good.

Here are a few final pics as well as some pics of the progress along the way.

lovely knife! clean lines.  Like your machine work, this is very carefully done, and looks great.
