Had a rare day off so ran to check out some tools a guy had listed in the local trader guide. He'd been kicked in the head by a mule and couldn't stand to hammer any more. Brought home a New Style 50# Little Giant that was rebuilt my Sid Suedmeier at Little Giant in Nebraska City, NE. Had to make it a pkg deal with a nice 225# Hay-Buddin anvil plus a couple sets of tongs. Severely depleted my bank account but he who dies with the most toys wins, right??? :goldtooth: (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/gotahunt/5578F51B-65D2-4573-893A-F7A4A1579AD6_zpsplbbfbtt.jpg)

Ohhhhhh, man... Color me jealous :) . I've had the good fortune to forge on a friend's 50# LG's-he has 2. I bet you really enjoy having that addition to the shop. I could really go for a bigger anvil like yours instead of my 107#. You'll have to add some "in shop" pics when everything gets settled in.

Good Day!!!

What's the serial number, Doug?
-
Serial #K-6023
Might be a 25 pounder on the market fore long if any body is interested... :saywhat:
-
Oh my, What a day. Congrats!
-
Doug, yours is only the 23rd New Style 50# after they changed to the new ram guide set-up and clutch assembly. Probably made in '41 or '42.
-
Cool, can you send me that link Karl, thanks!
-
I'm sorry - I have high level security clearance in the top secret Little Giant main frame data base.

Actually - just go to this page:
http://www.littlegianthammer.com/parts.html
scroll all the way to the bottom and click on
You will have to open up a PDF to see the serial numbers.
Oddly, yours is one of the very first 50# of the new style.
Mine is one of the very last. The serial #s run to 7363. Mine is # 7303.

Nice Doug. That shop wil be making new music now.
-
He with the most toy wins if one of his toys is that hammer!!! Nice score. I love my 50lb and it is a little different than yours so probably old style. I will have to do some research on the number when I get onto the shop.

Good Score!

great find, Doug...if you weren't 2800 miles away I might go for that 25# but I think the freight would kill me!!!
