Title: HELP!! with arrow selection..
Post by: Gaff on February 01, 2008, 06:50:00 PM
i am thinking about buying some gold tip 35-55 for my longbow. i just bought a samik verna 50@28" and am drawing to probably 27".

i found a good price on 35-55 GTs but i am scared that i wont be able to get them to fly well! i read on another site that someone had the same exact setup as me, and was shooting 28" 35-55 W/ 175 grains up front and was getting good arrow flight.

does that mean that i could copy his arrows and also get the same results?

im very new so bear with me.   :clapper:

thanks in advance!!

Jamie, I think you will need at least a 28" 35/55 and at least 175 up front, but ya say probably 27"s. I would cut them to 29"s and try the 175 up front and see how they tune. If they are weak which I doubt ya would cut a bit off and if they are still stiff add a bit more point weight. Shawn

thanks shawn, i draw 27" so a 28" arrow seems about right. if you have any other sugestions on arrow sizes i would welcome your advice. i found the GTs for $47 for a doz. so thats why i was leaning that way.

p.s. what the heck does ttt stand for??????

Great suggestions. I always go long and cut as I tune.  Its easer to cut them than to try to grow them.  Also, it allows me to tune to the heads i like instead of trying different shafts.

Good advice from Shawn.Jamie are they the black or the traditional GT's because the black ones are a stiffer spine?
