Title: A Damascus Knife
Post by: kbaknife on December 13, 2013, 03:41:00 PM
What I refer to as a "Pack Knife".
I really don't know how many of these I have made now, but it's a great platform to mix up different materials.
This fellow wanted this for his pack and wanted to look good carrying it.
1095 and 15N20 hot blued Damascus that is RADICALLY!!! chatoyant.
I find chatoyance much better displayed when shot in decent sunlight, but I not only had no sun today, but it's 11 below.
My shutter finger was getting a little stiff and I just accepted what I got first go-'round.
About 7" long blade, hot-blued steel guard and stabilized Redwood burl handle.
1 more to get out before Xmas.

Thanks.
It always surprises me that you can see the layers clearly at that layer count. The 120 layer blade I am working on, some of the layers on that are pretty thin already.

That just might be my favorite knife you've posted. Not sure what it is exactly, but as a whole, it just works perfectly.
