Title: Preban Ivory Ladder Skinner
Post by: skullworks on December 05, 2013, 08:51:00 PM
Here is one I finished recently for a  customer. Preban Ivory with black liners and mosaic pins. Blade is 1095 & 15N20 nickel damacus in a ladder pattern. Blade is 3" and OAL is 7-3/8".

I've only done a couple with elephant ivory, but there is something just magical about it. I like giraffe bone, but it doesn't have the same look. The ivory just has a depth to it that looks solid and translucent at the same time. What a shame the poachers have ruined things for us.

Nice work.

I'd love to try elephant ivory one day, but I'd be scared to death my first time.
