Title: Bullet Knife Reproduction
Post by: Doug Campbell on February 28, 2013, 11:13:00 AM
Here is one I started some time ago but kind of got put on the back burner getting stuff ready for the AR Show...

This one was ordered by a guy who is a firearm  and firearm related collector. He asked if I could do a reproduction of the old Remington knife in a Damascus Liner Lock. This is the first folder I've done completely from scratch you might say. I simply took a picture and laid it out from that. First making a "working" pattern from cardboard then sheet metal then to the finished knife. 4 1/2" closed, 8" open.

Hope you like it.

I don't normally wear a folding knife on my belt, but that one could sure make me change my ways!

That's a beauty!  Is the escutcheon plate inset or on top of the antler?

Thanks guys, it was challenge but loads of fun also.

The bullet is inlet into the antler Gables, that is the second scale on that side...     :banghead:

It was good to meet you also Patrick and a few other TGers as well. Like always those "weekends" are such a whirlwind that a feller never get to get to visit like he would like. Throwing all those people into such a small space kinda overwhelms this ol cowboy too...

The escutcheon is really fine-it looks like its laser cut u did such a great job of inletting.

I really like the fineness of the Damascus pattern too- it looks 'right' on the smaller knife parts to me than a bigger pattern would have

Great job!

Well done, Doug! I've seen some Remington knives, and this one of yours puts all of them to shame, although it sure does capture the look -- and then a whole lot more.
