Here are some pics of the goodies a few kind people sent to her.
As some of you know, Kelly and I took Michaela in when she was having some family issues.
she is my daughter's best friend and I have known her for about 7 years.
I have been showing her some basics about archery; she took to it like a fish to water!
She is doing very well and has never had much of her own, now she has 2 bows, arrows, a beautiful cane arrow with a stone head, and a dandy little dagger made from damascus steel.
A glove is on the way from Serge, and possibly some hunting clothes for her from Hoarmoan( who also sent her the arrows) :)
She has almost completed the seemingly impossible task of getting 4 high school credits in 2.5 months via home schooling under our cracking whips..! lol
Now she is heading back to high school with a new start, a new attitude and minus a few distractions that were following her last time...
Here are some pics of her stuff, and thanks to all who helped and encouraged her on her way to a new, better life :bigsmyl: :notworthy: :archer: (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/bows%202/IMGP1961.jpg)
the 56# 35#@26 Northern mist Pelkie, sent from a nice guy in Texas who asked to remain unamed. :)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/bows%202/P1010003-12.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/bows%202/IMGP1982.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/bows%202/IMGP1981.jpg)
the arrows that Hoarmoan sent her, the cane arrow and stone point and dagger that the "unamed"fellow sent her...nice stuff!! :)
Good for her and all involved. :clapper:
The 64" Wing Gull, that Keefer sent her, she loves that bow!
If you look close you can see her arrows forming a nice group on the bale.
and last but not least, she took your advice Killy and flung an arrow up and away; just to watch it fly. :) ;) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/bows%202/IMGP1977.jpg)
Thanks again to all that helped her on her journey.
Cary & Kelly. :)
That's some great kit there! That's what this site is about! :campfire:
What a beautifully happy looking young lady - and rightly so - bless her heart. Special props to you and family, Big Dog, and to the generous folks who chipped in for her new start.
I coppied her Full Draw pics and will post them to my TBD pages later today, Cary (gotta go for a meet with the insurance agent right now). May her (and your Daughter's) lives soar like the arrow Michaela sent up at Killie's suggestion. Ya gotta love the flight of the arra!
Good on you Big dog and all traders that provided :campfire: :archer:
Have fun Michaela... :jumper:
cool stuff Bernie... :) :)
I'll show her the pics later on.
BD
how come we aint got no women like that in texas? lol
You and your family are awesome for taking that girl in. I have a soft heart when it comes to helping and caring for people like that. Tell her I wish her well w/ her new start. I find it amazing that the people on Trad Gang (i.e. traditional archers) have such giving hearts. These are some great people and I'm glad I'm getting involved w/ them
a little flannel mixed with a little punk. She'll make some lucky guy happy one day.
Trad members, close and far away...
Thank you for all the wonderful support and wishes for this very deserving young lady.
:) It has been a joy to have Michaela in our home. She has changed so much in the short time that she has come to live with us.
Showing that with a little love, support and compassion, people can find the confidence to truly find their unique path in life. We are proud to have had the opportunity to help her along her journey. She is a very strong woman and she is destined for great things...
Cheers to all who have helped us to help her,.
Cary and Kelly
Kyle....LOL!! she will find that funny.. ;) :) , I'm sure she will be on later, that is if the wind doesn't blow us away..120kmh gusts right now on the wave of an approaching flash-freeze. :scared:
The smile on Arwen's face says it all!!!!! :archer:
Micheala is a VERY lucky young Lady!!!!! Many,Many Thanks to Cary,Kelly for taking this precious angel into their home.It takes a VERY special type of person to do that, for when you do,you invite that person to become part of your family and you except all of the responsabilies and all of the ups and downs that go with it. I know from experiance that the bonds you form will last a lifetime.
As for the generous fellow TradGangers that helped out.....this does not surprize me.....for this is what we do.....and THAT my Brothers and Sisters and Friends,is what makes me feel honored to be able to call myself a member of the TradGang "family"!!!!!
Many,Many Thanks to ALL!!!!!
May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows
It's looks like she has found the right path in life with lots of help...I hope she has a great journey!
In this day, if more people helped struggling kids I do believe it would change the world!
Best of luck, and I bet that was one arrow that she'll always remember!
:notworthy: :notworthy: The whole world should take an example from your story. Thanks
Make sure you tell her how proud we are of her. And we say a prayer for her, and that she is pround of her self. And anything she sets her mind to, she can do!
Brent

Once again I am amazed by the generous souls from the trad gang members!!!!!!! Way to go! God bless!
I wish I was better off in the cash flow and knowledge department to add to her treasures but all I can give is my encouragement and best wishes and of course gods blessings as he has already shown to here by the awesome family that took her in during her hour of need. great job by all. THIS IS WHY I AM PROUND TO BE A TRADGANGER
Also to Michaela. You have shown to your new family and fellow tradgangers that you have the ability to overcome obsticles that would normally stop young people in thier tracks. You are a VERY strong and determined beautiful young lady that is determined to stay focassed and work towards things that are a prioprity in your life. Education being top on the list. I for one, am VERY proud of you for doing your best and obviously exceeding in anything you have set out to do. Keep up the great work and good luck. You have a loving family both here on Tradgang and with Big Dog that will always be here for you.
This site never ceases to amaze me. Great folks here for sure. You should all be proud of your gifts and contributions you have made to this young lady. She will probably never forget them for sure.
Great shot of Arwen at full draw! You DID make her go and find that poor arrow, right? What, hadda climb a spruce to get it back? Good! Builds character, and that's not sap in your hair, that's Product!
I am so proud of our gang for stepping up and getting equipment into deserving hands. Arwen, the biography section in the library is full of the stories of human lives. They are inspiring, and worthy of being written only because they tell how people from all different backgrounds overcame obstacles to achieve something worthwhile, and occasionally, great.
A person's strength is measured by the obstacles overcome. I saw in your picture that you cast a tall shadow, gal.
Killdeer
I'd like to add my KUDOS; to Arwen, as well as your daughter; it was she who had to start this whole journey. What a friend!
also a question
What kind of boots is Arwen wearing?
Mossy Oak winter boots
Thanks Arwen , are they rubber boots or leather footed?
rubber, I got them at wal mart in the boys section lol
Michaela, Looks like you are set to go....God Bless and Aim High in all you do!!! <")))><
OK, I gotta ask - am i missing something? Why do I keep seeing two names, Arwen and Michaela? I want to make sure I have it posted right on my TBD pages (besides, it ain't fair to confuse senior citizens - ;) )
lol! my real name is Michaela the name I use on here is Arwen..
Bernie,
Arwen is her tradgang login; Michaela is her true name, from what I gather.
(And old Jarheads aren't senior citizens...they're just, well...like old leather! Worn and tough..!)
See ya,
Marc
LOL Thanks to both Arwen/Michalea and Marc (yeah I only play the "SC" card for fun - most of the time I act like a kid, ask my wife - ;) )
Michalea, I will edit in your "handle" also, in case someone is looking for your posts on here. I'll go do it right now, if my cane doesn't break on the way - :archer:
Bernie, the bow she is shooting in the pic is the Wing Gull, 64" 30#'s..the pelkie is the HH-style bow. ;) ;) :)
Oooops - back to the drawing board :D (Funny part is I thought, "Gee, that Pelkie looks like some of the old Wings." Because I've handled a bunch of those - and liked them. LOL)
Thanks - I think I have it right now - but if not, let me know. No Problem, and I like to be right on there (when I can).
Our hearts and prayers go out to this family which will have a bond that strengthens each and everyday. :banghead:
I said to myself last night when I was reading this post, "OK Jim it's late at night things will lQQk clearer in the morning. Go to bed. I was right.
So what is Carl's duaghters name? and I assume she shoots as well?
My name is Cary...aka BigDog,
Arwen, aka Michaela is my daughter's best friend.
Kayla, is my daughter( she is not a member of TG, yet...), and yes, she shoots sometimes as well. :)
Everything good now??? LOL ;) :)
Awesome, it is nice to see the big hearts people can have my hats off to you and your family, I love to see ladies shoot my gaughter is 5 and I can sit and watch her shoot all day long.
LOL, I know exactly what you mean, Jim, had the same thoughts running through my mind (Big Dog Is like that - Likes to keep a little mystery in life ;) )
I'm gonna clear it up further though:
His Wife is Kelly (and is Highly thought of by all of his gang of cutthroat archers from the north country.)
also,
His Cousin is "Bubba"
His Dog is "He Who Sits On The Hilltop And Howls"
His Mule is "McIntosh" and it is rumored he has pink streaks inside.
His goldfish is "Fluffy", but he calls it "Slimey" - or is it the other way around? Oh Well ....
His Armadillo (sadly froze to Death) is "Tex"
His pet Grizzley is "He Who Sits On The Other Hill And Howls To Try To Get The Dog To Come TO Him" (Snack-time)
The Cat (Notice "THE" - cats don't belong to folks, folks belong to cats) is "Ol' Noname"
Now aren't we all glad we got that all squared away? :goldtooth: (I'm a very sick person but luckily I don't have these spells often, and only among friends :biglaugh: )
Bernie, did you drink too much coffee again?
Yuh,yuh, yuh yuhyuhyuhyuhyuhyuh :knothead:
(Keep practicing with your bow, Michaela, we'll be OK in a minute, er two. :) )
FOCLMAO.. :biglaugh:
awesome stuff guys! great to see that!
big thumbs up to Cary and Kelly also
We just got a Hill-style glove in the mail from Serge aka Drifter2, it fits her perfect and she loves it. :) Thanks Serge.
Also got word that an armguard and a medicine bag are in the mail from SquirrelBait! :)
Ron from Alaska is sending her a gore-tex jacket as well. ;)
She made up all the work she had to do to get back into regular school..here she is on her first morning.
We are super proud of her, especially when asked a bit about herself in class she said "I like to shoot bows, I'm kinda' into the whole archery-thing".. :) :)
BD (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/IMGP1986.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/ashstyk/IMGP1983.jpg)
thanks again folks!
Michaela. Good luck in school. Keep up the great work. You seem to have allot of tradgangers here that are VERY supportive and proud of you.
Big Dog. Two beautifull women in your house. How do you get things done man?
Bernie. You have way too much free time on your hands sir. Oh and thanks for the laugh. I am now cleaning the coffee speued through my nose off my computer monitor.
Dave, it is a tough job, but somebody has got to do it... ;) ;) :)
Because family is at the heart of every relationship. I would like to thank my family (fellow tradgangers) for their heart. Thanks! :notworthy:
-Brett
Takes you back to the golden age of archery when women dressed up to go shoot arras.
LOL - OK I'll try to behave (for a few minutes at least). This FD pic will also get posted, Cary and Arwen - to show on my pages that the young lass does have a face - and a lovely one it is too, be'gorrah, what with that bright smile and all!
Keep on, keepin' on! And bless all the doners too.
Way to go Michaela and everyone invovled! What an inspiration!
Congrats Soup,
I belive you will never find a bigger heart then in the trad gang family! Always willing to give and ask for nothing in return; except that you pass on the generosity (the unspoken rule!)
Tell I have not forgot her, I'm still collecting hunt'n duds for her. Have a fair selection already.
Most of all make sure she knows how proud we are of her
Ya gotta love it! I will get her pic, and another I have pending, up after supper. I got a surprise gift today that I needed to post in the ATAR and Dino threads in the trad events forum - that threw my "schedule" (LOL) off.
The Pic is all posted now with appropriate comments.
