Title: Double newbie needs help
Post by: Ed Neudorf on January 29, 2008, 09:34:00 PM
Hello all. I'm new here, and new to traditional archery, so I need some advice. I've been shooting compound for a year now after a long time off, and quite enjoying it. This summer I had the opportunity to shoot a couple of longbows owned by a friend, and it piqued my interest. I've started looking at some recurves on **** and such, and would like some advice as to what I should look for. I really like old bows, they seem to have a special kind of history to them. I just bought a 60's Bear Grizzly, 52# at 28" for $100. I hope to recieve the bow in a week or two. In the meantime, I've seen lots of other bows that I really like, but that's basically based on how they look, since I know little about what makes a trad bow "good". A couple of guys recommended Damon Howatt  bow's, but they seem rare. So, are there any particular bows you guys would recommend, or things I should be looking for? Unfortunatly, my budget only allows about $125 for a used bow, so I may be looking awhile. Thanks in advance, I'm going to start reading the forums.

Keep what you have coming and just start shooting. Spend the money on good arrows.

diddo capt eddie.  The best thing about traditional archery isn't the bows or the arrows or the rest of the stuff.  It's the shooting.  :wavey:
Welcome aboard.
