I am trying .01 copper for ferrulle spacers. I just keep mangling it because it bends so easily. Any advice for making my tang slot in this thin stuff without causing so many wrinkles and distortion?

Try to sandwich it in between two pieces of masonite, works for me. Moon

You might just go ahead and attach it to the inside of half your ferrule and work it from there. Super glue it tight. Cut it a over sized a little and trim off the part where you cut it and it's distorted AFTER it's glue together. Now it's part of the ferrule.

Many thanks

You can also place your thin stock on a piece of hardwood, make a cutting tool from a steel tube sharpened at one end, and whack it with a hammer. If it curls up, you can press it flat again easily between flat wood scraps (hardwood floor scraps are very useful).
