I have a couple of questions and I know I will be able to get them answered here. First question. I'am looking for a burn design for my homemade forge. Second question. Do I need to add forced air to a gas burner forge?? And number three. What PSI do you run your regulator on.

I stared with the Don Fogg design. You can easily search and find it on the net. It has a blower. I use the low pressure (red) regulator set somewhere between 4 and 9 lbs depending on the forge and what you're doing.

Lots of options do a web search. I use a Venturi system without a blower. A blower system will give you better heat control. It is all in what you plan to work on

Made mine a 2 burner without a blower. I did a lot of searches and there are a lot of great designs. I came up with something that incorporated a few different burner types I saw. In an effort not to be long winded on here, just pm me if you'd like some more specifics. Good luck-you're in for some fun :) .

I have both a venture & two propane blower forges plus two coal forges. Actually I'm splitting/setting up a forge in SC with these. The blowers probably give higher heat for welding but the venture is so nice in that I mainly forge outside and even in a light drizzle I don't have any worries with electrical cords.

I will be working with 1095 flat bar and maybe a few RR spikes. I would like to weld a wire cable together someday. I've got a burner set up now with no regulator and I'am burning alot of gas. Thanks for the info.

I built my small horizontal forge and use a blower. Hardest part was learning to tune it. I think air gives you more versatility. I can tune it to run between 1500-2200 degrees. I also will probably build a vertical top hat forge and i can slide the burner assembly from one forge to the other very easily and not have to reinvest. I typically run 2psi with one of the red dial regulators that Lin described.

I have been fighting with this burner for weeks now,I know when I've been whiped!!! So I'am going to buy a new forge ready to go!!! Thinking about the forgemaster brand.

What type of burner are you working with? I'm sure we can help.
