Scott, nice work and thanks for the cool vid!  I like your choice of music!

I just returned from Sevierville TN. yesterday after attending the W.F. Moran forging workshop & opening of the Moran Knife Exhibit at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works.  When I recoup I will post!  Several heavy hitters in attendance!

Yeah these are fun to make.  A lot of time editing though!  Next one will be wrought iron san mai.

Steve... I'm jealous of all those opportunities you get.

Scott....outstanding, very inspiring!

I have always wondered is anything special done to the drift prior to the initial punch-thru? so that it does not weld itself to the glowing hawk head?

Scott... No. I do put some anti-seize on it to help loosen it. That is what is flaming up in the video I think.  But I don't work at welding heat and even if I did the inside of the eye is probably too scaled up to weld anyway.
