I really like the serving set I finished for a friend. I like making kitchen tools because I feel they get used more. A good hunter/belt knife gets used 3-5 times a year if you are fortunate enough to score a lot of deer - but a good kitchen knife can be used every day. The other two are a small pearing knife and DP hunter. The pearing knife is my first of this design and just kind of came to me as I was drawing the blade on a piece of steel I had just flattened with the power hammer. Thank you to another trad ganger for a nice little piece of padauk sent to me for the fork handle!!

Again - my photography needs much improvement but so does my knife building skills so it fits for now. I need to take more photos outside to eliminate the flash burn

Thanks guys
I am forging them from a Ford truck coil spring so after a few trips through the power hammer to get them close I us my belt sander to get them to shape. The slicer is about 1/16th at the handle and the pearing knife will go thinner. Thinner is better in the kitchen knife catagory but I get scared when I get them too thin that they will warp(or worse yet) crack during heat treat. We will see - have to take a little risk to get what I want out of the knife.
