I had no intention of bringing home a new bow this year from Kalamazoo...but, I'm weak. I've admitted I have a problem but I've never made an effort to find out what the next step is. So here it is. Shrew Classic Hunter, 54" 48lbs @ 28". Strung she measures 52.5" tip to tip. This bow is just plain fun to shoot. My daughters have named it "Baby Bow."

I wish i could afford to have an addiciton lol. Great lookin bow! have fun with it
and the quiver ? NICE !!!
I can't afford it either. :banghead:
The first step is to admit your problem.
The second is to go out and buy another one,LOL! Congrats on a great bow!
Beautiful bow. While I was a Kzoo on saturday I shot that shrew.Man was it a sweet bow.
Beautiful bow! I love my Shrew! I'm sure you will too. Have fun!
I'd have to say that's the prettiest Shrew I've seen in a while.
Scott, Slid the quiver down farther on the riser. It should be past the fadeouts.
That is one nice bow ! :bigsmyl:
Ya right! Who is going to believe that you had no intentions of coming home with a new bow! You go to a show and it is a prerequisette to come home with one. Proud of you man simply proud of you.
That is one awesome Shrew Scott! I love them Shrews! They're such good looking bows, and real fun to shoot! Can't wait to order my one! ;) Good luck with it! Thaks for sharing! :bigsmyl: :campfire:
Nice bow!!! When I was there Friday nght, it was difficult to get up to the table. Mr. LaClair looked awful busy! You bought a beautiful bow, man!
Nice looking bow. I to was overcome by the Shrew bug. I will try and post pics on my new one I picked up at K-zoo. But the one thing to watch out about those Shrews is they are very addicting!!
Sweet bow.I hope to order one soon.
Very sweet, and a quiver to match...Outstanding!!!
I would really like to have a little shorty like that some day.
Congrats!!!!!!!!
Scott...that bow almost followed me home.
Instead, ordered one with same specs to be the "little sister" to my first Shrew: shadow grey limbs with Black and White fadeouts. Be our third set of Father/Son Shrews...

Beautiful, what is the wood for the Limb Laminations???
Very very Nice..

Very nice! Enjoy it!
That looks like a really fine bow. Hats off to Ron,and congradulations to you. :campfire:
I might get to meet Ron at the PBS shindig. :campfire:
The Shrew epidemic is very dangerous and contagious as of right now there is no known cure to mankind :D .
I too had no intension of buying a bow, but as I passed the Shrew booth I felt a trance like come over me and something lured me over to the booth. Finally when I came to I had a new 55lb curley maple Shrew in my hands.
:bigsmyl:
Outstanding bow and outstanding bows. Enjoy shooting yours. I enjoy the hec out of shooting mine.
What problem? If there is a problem, just send it my way. :bigsmyl: Nice bow!
Great looking bow. I've never shot a Shrew, in fact I've never seen one in Texas. Something tells me that if Ron ever shows up in the Lone Star state I'll be doing just what you did. I've got the Longhunter shirt just no Shrew to go with it.
Yup, Got me too! 56" Classic Hunter Gold.
Eric
I have a LiL Favorite with bowbolt in the mail somewhere between the mainland and Guam and a Samurai with bowbolt on order. Cannot wait to get both.
Danny
sweet bow , love those shrews :0)
Hey Ron, what kind of strings did you have on those Shrews at the show. They looked as thin as piano wire.
Burnsie
Sure wish they would come to ETAR...heard so many good things about these bows.

The string that comes with the bow is of 450+ material. This is a high performance string much like fast flight but with less noise. It is a very strong string being 150# per strand as opposed to a Dacron string which is 55# per strand. The 6 or 8 (depending on the bows weight) strand may look weak and flimsy but it is a 900 to 1200# string, the equivalent to an 18 strand Dacron. You may use any other type string you wish on your Shrew but the 450+ is what I like and recommend. If you use any other high performance string such as fast flight or other HP string material , the strings loops MUST be padded or doubled.
Great looking Bow, Welcome to the Shrew Family.
Very nice!!!!! Mine is due any time now. It was supposed to go in the mail on Tuesday....... hope nobody took the mojo out of it at the show.....
I too was bitten by the Shrew bug at KZoo, but all I got to take home was this...

If all goes well, I will be getting a 54" Classic Hunter 52@28 for Christmas...Curly birch vaneers, bow bolt, stag tips...if only I can keep my sanity till then! :knothead:
You know Derek there is no known cure once you have been bitten by the Shrew bug!

That is for sure!! I am up to 5 now with another one on order. I just picked the 5th on up at Kzoo. The way I look at it though if all of my bows have the same handle then it wont matter what one I take hunting. I can take a different one every time and still know how and where it is going to shoot!!
Very nice. Ive got the same addiction.
5! Whoa Bro only a miracle can save you now :biglaugh:
Or the wife taking away my play money!!!! Which she is threating now!! :help:
Tim,
Once you get the bow on order, you'll have one of everything. We are gonna need to come up with another model just for you! :scared:
You got it Gregg!! I will start drawing up a 3D model of the next Shrew bow!!
Gregg you will have to go a long, long way to top the Classic Hunter design, matter of fact I am not sure you can
That sounds like a challenge to me Gregg!! :saywhat:
Tim,
Actually I've been thinking about a new model Shrew for those that like a longer bow, like maybe 64-66". We could call it the Super Shrew Grand. Don't tell Gregg I want to surprise him. :goldtooth:
I ordered one just like it a little over a month ago. I can hardly wait!
Ron, I am in for that!! I have been thinking about getting a longer longbow again. I have been looking at Norhern Mist, or Belcher longbows. Something in 64 or 66 inch would be the ticket!!
I'll be first in line for a longer model Shrew!!
All of this talk is driving me nuts LOL!! I ordered my Shrew in September and I am going nuts waiting. All this talk makes me want me Classic Hunter even more...keep it up! And congratulations on your fine purchase a K-Zoo!
HMMMM 64" SHREW!? Are you serious Ron?

My 56" Classic Hunter (the first 56") is in the mail as of yesterday - pics will be posted shortly for your enjoyment :goldtooth:
Just orded a shrew 54 inch longbow...Greg (Java ) put me on the list to be done!! :)
John McCullough has been crafting 64" "shrew style" bows for years. Is he still involved with the Shrew line of bows?
Greg Coffey [Java Man ] builds Shrew Bows now.
john mccullugh still builds bows....they are the griffens...
Yeah but why buy a Griffin when you can get a SHREW!!!
Ron, Don't do it! I don't think I could resist a 66inch Shrew.
Id love to see Ron come out with Old English 66 or 68 longbow .... maybe Im dreaming... :)
You guys are starting to scare me! I used to think I had a fairly bright future, but now I lay awake at night and all I see is a homeless man pulling a red wagon full of shrews :help:
Look at the bright side...at least you wont me alone!! The rest of us Shrew guys will be right there with you!!
Well I just ordered my first custom, and Im already thinking about another... :saywhat: :wavey:

Sorry a bit new here but what does Padded or doubled mean? Can someone show an example.
Thanks,
Josh
Padded usually means that you use a sting like B-50 in the loops and doubled means that the loops are double the stands of the main body of the string. So if the string was a 6 strand the loops would be 12 strands. The reason for this is with the small diameter string like on the Shrews for example. They is so much force on a small area that if you did not do this you would take the risk of cutting right through your limb tips.
Usually on custom bows that are made for fast flight the bowyer will spec that you will void any warranty if you use a high performance string that does not have padded or doubled loops.

:clapper:
Of coarse it would have to be a
SHREW wagon. ;)
I too was overcome by a Shrew. I went there to get a shrew hawk. Which I did and love it.

I also went to look at and shoot some of the shrew bows and talk to Ron and Gregg about ordering a long bow. But I promised my self that I wouldn't rush into buying a long bow. So I didn't I bought a recurve. And I love it.

But I still feel like I need to order that long bow so I'll probably be talkin with ya soon Ron. Oh and I might need to order one of them Shrew Wagons too!
Thanks again Ron and Gregg!!!
Sorry I meant to compliment you on your bow Scott. That's a really pretty bow and I think I might have shot that one while I was there. I shot three or four different ones and they all were sweet. I bought the same quiver too. well I'm lookin forward to meeting you and doin some shootin when you come up next.
