Finished up some knives and thought I'd share some pictures with you.
I have not done the blades on any of them, only the handles, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts
on improving amd developing myself as a hobby knifemaker.
Here we go :
My 2nd ever knife, thanks to all TG'ers for helpful tips around xmas time!

This knife was a X-mas present for my friend Øivind, to match his Mojostik.
440c steel, woods are Padauk and Osage with red spacers.
Finished with superglue.
Pics taken by Øivind himself, as he is a photographer.
You'll see the difference in the next photos ^^
Third knife

Originally, this knife was supposed to be dark brown, but when stained and oiled I was too quick
to rub with 1200grit, and some stain was removed.
I had to sand it all down and it left this pattern, which I liked.
Not quite sure of the steel, but made by Polar, maybe Carbonsteel?
Wood is Birchroot, finished with Liberon Finish Oil
Fourth knife

Finished this one yesterday, and really happy with it. Some minor finish problems though..
Polar Carbon Steel again? It is very sharp though, and has already drawn blood from my thumb ^^
Wood is Amboyna burl, tinn-silver and black spacers with buffalo horn up front.
Finished with Liberon Finish Oil
Starting on a fifth sometime next week!
Thanks in advance for all critiques, except on my sloppy photoskills :knothead:

They all look really good to me.
-
No criticism from me,I think you are doing fine look'n work!
-
Beautiful work! Love the style!
-
Thank you all for the nice feedback!
This sure is an addictive hobby ^^
-
Very nice work on those handles. I especially like the amboyna Burl.
-
I like the shape of the handle. Bigger where your longest fingers are. It just makes sense when your not using a guard. Mark

Thanks!
The handle fits very well in my palm, at least!
-
I can see the progression of improvement on your skills as I scrolled down the photos. Great job!
-
Svein, those are all very nice, I love all your wood choices. My only suggestion would have been to round off the edges on your first knife handle shown. That's just my personnel preference.
Very nice work.

You are doing very well! I really dig that pattern or style of knife does it have a name or is it something you came up with and like?
-
Steve, I was thinking the same thing, hope Oivind is not bound by politeness :p
Madness522, the style of knife is a variation on the classic Norwegian 'Tolleknife', which means a knife for woodworking.
Though the classic shape is more that of an elongated barrell or Fat Trout, decorative aka Saturday-knives were often shaped in a custom manner.

I agree. The fourth knife looks the best of all, and the others are good. You catch on quickly.

Thanks for the comments!
Johnis: I've been talking to the owner of the first one, and we decided to redo the handle a bit, make it slimmer on the edges and butt^^
Now I just need to learn leathercraft :p
Boy, that is hard work!
-
You would learn leather too and you would be a complite craftman!!
-
Looks great to me, doubt you'll have any problem with the leather.
