Title: new 'old' knife
Post by: Bodork on March 08, 2011, 09:10:00 PM
This my first attempt at etching a blade. I made the blade from 1080 bar stock. I wiped gun blue on it and after it dried, I put it in a jar of bleach. I did this four times leaving it in the bleach for about 20 minutes each time. The handle is walnut with gaboon ebony bolsters. Red phenolic spacers and brass accents. Hope you like it, Mike

I like the looks of that. Is it possible to blue and etch the blade of a knife that has already been assembled?

Yeah, I like that a lot! I'm always interested in learning different ways to get different finishes on blades. Great job.
