Title: Great Smokey Mountain Blade Symposium
Post by: tippit on February 01, 2011, 08:07:00 AM
GSMBS is March 4-6 in Clyde, NC.  Joe Keesler is doing the forging, grinding, and tempering demonstrations this year...you can bet I'll be there        Plus Jason Knight is doing the handles and guards.  Both of these Master Smiths have helped me so much in the direction of my bladesmithing.  Is anyone else planning on going?  Doc

Where are you staying Jeff?  Clyde is probably 3.5 hours from my house and I may be able to come up there for the GSMBS that weekend.  Sounds like a pretty well organized and laid out event.

That would be fun to watch if it weren't so far.

Keeslar and Knight will be at Batson's in Alabama too, but Knight's doing the forging and Keeslar the handles and guards at that one.

Jason did the forging last year and Joe did handles and guards the year before.  That year I had the pleasure of Joe forging a Brute de Forge blade one on one with me.  That was a real treat.  I'm really looking forward to 2 1/2 days with Joe demonstrating his forging methods this year.  you never stop learning...Doc
