Title: The "Hawg Skinner"
Post by: kbaknife on January 27, 2011, 02:45:00 PM
One I have dubbed The " Hawg Skinner" since she is going to accompany me to Texas on a wild hog hunt this Spring.
1095 San Mai blade and stabilized Sheoak "Rays" for the Take-down handle.
Stainless guard.
Note what I call 'fish scales' in the Sheoak. I called Jessica at Alpha Knife Supply, and she suggested that had that piece been cut long grain instead of end grain, it probably would have been qualified to be a burl.
Regardless, I thought it was stupendous.

Karl, you come up with some pretty handle material. It really sets the knife apart. I really like it. Lin

Probably one of the best I've seen!

WOW! What an awesome knife! Not only is the blade stunning, but the way you positioned the wood is spot-on! I'll definately have a bookmark on this one!

Karl,

That is definitely a unique and beautiful knife -- both the wood and the steel. You have made something very special.

Karl, it appears that your handle material is cut completely across grain, not what I think of when I hear long grain.  Is is stabilized?
I think the effect is incredible, and you'll likely be "best dressed" at camp!

Is is cut end grain Dan.
I said that had it been cut long grain, it would have been a burl.
