Here a little friction folder. 2.5" blade and maple burl handle. With red liners. The steel is 1/8" 15n20

And here is another big camp knife. Again.. the 1/8" 15n20. Curly maple handle obviously. The total knife length is about 14". This is one is going out for a Bob Schrap sheath and shoulder harness..

And lastly... I don't do a lot of file knives anymore.. but this one was begging for it. This thing was buried in the ground at an old farm for who knows how long. Some of the rust pits were almost 1/8" deep! This was a heavy file... the spine is over 1/4". I wanted to leave as much character as possible so I just forged the tip and handle and left the spine and top of blade untouched. This made for a relatively thick blade, but the deep hollow grind has left a thin enough edge. I'm not sure what kind of steel... 1095? but it left a hamon without even using clay.. the difference in thickness from the edge to the spine was obviously enough. The wood is redwood lace burl with padauk and birch bark spacers and heavily etched tang-peened butt plate from antique wrought iron.

Those are all very nice, but that last one really grabs my attention.  It looks as good as the story it has to go along with it!  Bravo!    :thumbsup:

Scott,  That last one is interesting in that I've had a few Smiths look at my knives and like them except when I was doing a lot of nice file work on the spine.  They said that it just didn't fit the style of the rough blade.  I like what you did with the rough texture of the spine...just seems to add to the package.  Doc

That file knife is an eye catcher.  It almost looks like you added a finish over the rust pitted area as it shines in the picture.  Chad

Thanks.. that is just oil. I usually do a bit of oiling before taking pictures...
