I'm looking at building some type of a display rack for some of the really cool knives that I have accumulated. They are just too nice not to have where I can see them more often.
I'm thinking some type of rack - not in a glass case, but open so they can be picked up and handled or used. Maybe something that utilizes antler??
I have a vague idea in my head, but would sure appreciate any suggestions.

I'll be watching this one. Been thanking along the same lines.

maybe you could put them on belt and I will walk around with them :bigsmyl:

I like poking a red hot piece of metal through drift wood or barn wood and forging little hooks for em:

Now that's not going to happen!
The other ideas are really cool though! Any others?

Well, I would have recommended Dana & Scott but I see they showed up!

I like a multi tine antler with slots cut or ground in the top of the antler to hold each of the knives. The grinds in the antler are set so the tip of the knife is inside the antler and the handle is angled upwards away from the antler.

Dana,
I have made a few and have seen a lot of them on knife websites. I don't have any pics right now. You put the antler tips down and then make the cuts in the top side.

I think I got it now, it maybe awhile before I can make it, but I'll try. I'm stuck in Denver Co. for about 5 mo.
I'm having knife withdraws bad, no forge, anvil, grinders and no place to work. This sucks
Is there any bladesmiths in colorado?

Smiley made me chuckle this morning. Thats a good one. He's a good friend eh Joe?
-
Oh he's a good friend all right. He would take care of everything I own for me - no questions asked.
My knives, my bows, my guns, heck, probably even my wife!
-
Joe,
Just search the beaches for the right piece of driftwood and cut slots for each to slide into. Same idea as antler. But I know you have alot of knives and since, only Irene shoots bucks with enough horn to do that. And I'm real sure she's not gonna let you chop up her big buck rack. You'd better stick to driftwood or a real nice osage or cedar log. :D

If anyone needs driftwood I can get ya some as my farm has Ohio River frontage and I'm usually on the riverbank 3 or 4 times a week looking for some for my dad.

I don't know Joe...but if you look close I think smiley already has a few of your knives under that top :biglaugh:

What I do is use a wedge of nice scrap wood and cut a groove to hold the blade up right...Doc
