I found a great piece of wenge for a handle on a knife that I am currently working on. I have never used it before, but it seems a bit oily. Does it require just buffing or can I put truoil on it for a finish? Thanks in advance! Jon

I've finished a couple with TruOil. Wipe it down good with acetone first to remove excess oil. You can also seal it with superglue and/or spray lacquer.

Thanks for the info, I am in the process of making a x-cut Wenge full-tang for my lady^^

Easiest thing I found to seal oily wood is a coat or two of shellac first then you caqn finish with whatever you choose. Superglue also works well, and doesn't require alot to go a long way. Just don't hesitate when using your finger to spread the glue...I know!
