Title: mower blade and osage

i just finished this one for the local barber
forged from an old mower blade
quenched 10 seconds in oil checked for straightness and finished in brine 8.50 o.a.l 4.25 blade. osage scales

pic doesn't do it justice. Saw this knife at Kevin's today. It is straight, shiny, and sharp! Fits great in the hand. Nice work Halverson, looking forward to your mentoring me on that forge this winter.

That is absolutely beautiful.  I'd like something there for scale though.  Why not compare it to a dollar bill?  That puts it in perspective.

i clay coated the blade in an effort to get a temper line and i had read somewhere about going from oil to brine with L-6 to get the temper line
the mower blade was an unknown steel and  and i decided what the heck
didnt end up with a temper line but ended up with a blade that took a heck of a lot of abuse and still held a great edge
