Anyone know of a source for bamboo knife scales? I've heard of people using bamboo flooring. Anyone know of any more sources? Prefer it to be stabilized. Thanks! :goldtooth:

depends on what kind of bamboo you want. ive seen some nice ones that were just the outer piece of the culm. the guy had checkered them , and it was a very grippy , solid handle...

I would like for it to me thick enough for slabs/scales...not hidden tang.

youre going to need mature bamboo , thats around 6" in diameter. most of it that size is around 3/4" thick or more.
what i meant was you could use the natural roundness as slabs...

when you get a knife done with boo, let us know! I've always thought of making a bamboo/ipe handle to match my boo/ipe longbow....

Go to Walmart or Marshalls, buy bamboo cutting boards cheap with the number of slabs you can get out of one. They make a very light handle...Doc
