I kept coming back to this page and looking at all the beautiful knives you guys make and finally I got hooked and bought a knife kit that I put together. It was OK but I just needed to get some steel and make my own from scratch. Now I'm hooked on another hobby! While I'll never be a true artisn like most of you I will be carrying my own blade when I hunt this year.

i started to include my wife in the making process. i let her pick what handles would look best with what blade.
I included my wife by having her hold tongs while my left hand was wounded! The fear in her eyes....
This really is a great pass time. I just finished my first complete knife and I really like it. For some reason I didn't completely polish the blade because I like the way it looked with some of the pits from heat treating left on it. I guess it makes me remember all of the first process. My next one is going for looks all the way. Anyway, thatnks for all the great info on here.
