Kicking week 5 off for Jeff
What happened to rule number 12?I really liked that one.
• Alright this is week 5 of a 5 week series. The rules below are the final rules, and if you need any clarification please PM me. If your question is something I left out of the rules I will modify them. I will post any modifications in bold.
• You may shoot your first target using 5 arrows. Post your target with your screen name (the one you signed up with) and your score WRITTEN ON THE TARGEt. All targets are to be posted by 12:00 Noon Sunday, Jan 27, 2008.
1. Any bow longbow or recurve – No Sights what so ever.
2. No arrow restrictions....carbon, wood, aluminum, cane....etc...are OK
3. A cut line gets rounded up
4. An "X" is a 12 everything else is as marked
5. Targets must be turned in by Sunday 12:00 PM (Noon)
6. You cannot shoot all 5 targets in one week and turn them in one at a time or all at one time
7. You may practice/warm up before shooting your target
8. If more then 5 arrow holes appear in your target your weeks target will be a zero, or you will be asked to reshoot that week.
9. Targets will be shot at a distance of 15 yards or 45 feet
10. Everyone will shoot this Target no exceptions
www.tradgang.com/docs/tgott.pdf (http://www.tradgang.com/docs/tgott.pdf)
11. WRITE YOUR SCREEN NAME AND SCORE SOMEWHERE ON THE TARGET. Other information such as bow and arrow combo is OK as long name and score are there as well....Make them readable.
12. No whining, bitching, moaning, groaning, or complaining.
13. You may use a visual aid on your target. Such as an orange dot covering the X. As long as it does not obscure the line for scoring.
• We will be using this target so that everyone can print it. It will print on regular paper(8.5X11).
www.tradgang.com/docs/tgott.pdf (http://www.tradgang.com/docs/tgott.pdf)
• Best you can get is a 60 (5 arrow * 12 points = 60)
• All times I refer too are in CST/CDST

Acquiring a dog is the closest a human will ever come to picking his own relatives!
Mr Gene,
I like rule #12 also, lol.
Hey fellas thanks for getting my back. I'm going to record the scores that I missed while on the road...I Made it safe and sound . Did 846.6 miles in just under 14 hours.....I love my Fords, but the old back is paying the price right now.
Either way glad to be back online.
Jeff...your tougher than me!
Glad your back.
Rod, I think it has nothing to do with tough...I think this one boils down to stupidity...I did pull over in Zanesville and took a nap in the truck.
Welcome back Jeff, heres week 5, THANKS again for hosting this. The tournament has really helped me with form and zoning in on a spot. All comes down to putting it all together and concentrating. Was doing well this week then arra #3 forgot about BT and dropped it low :banghead: Try and get it next time. Joe (http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg177/Joe-Mart/DSCF1929.jpg)
Here is week 5. Everything felt right with these 5 arrows. Same 57@28 fox breed 2016 xx78 arrows. This has been fun, and a good way to pass the time.

I would like to request that my target never be shown next to or in the vicinity of X2's target!!! :notworthy:
Looks like X2 is using a shooting machine. :scared: :clapper:
looks like x2 IS a shooting machine
Last but not lease! (http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh268/longbowchuck/tradgangwk5.jpg)
I only see 3 holes in X2's target.....oh yeah, he does shoot in the same spots....over and over and over! X2 I am sure a lot of us would love to see a video of you shooting. Maybe a shot over your shoulder, etc. If that is possible. May be able to see something that will help our form. I am going to use a video to look at my own form too.
I will see what I can do.
X2 Masters of the Barebow 3??? Just a thought. Joe
Here is mine for this week. Took a whoooole lot of warming up but finally got the hang of it. :)

I think a target with all those arrows sticking in the bullseye is pure beauty! Nice shooting V-Archer.
As cold and raining as it is suppose to be this week it will be hard to find a time to get out and shoot. Might have to put on my rain gear!
Shot a different bow again this week, hadnt shot it other then 8 yds. in basement since last summer, took 10 warm-up shots and shot the target. Sterling Jensen 3 pc. T/D longbow 62 in. 60@28, M.J. Log #8 glass arrows w/125 gr. point total 545 grs. This is one of the sweetest shooting longbows Ive ever shot, its one Ill keep forever..SCORE 46 (//%5Burl=http://imageshack.us%5D%20%5Bimg%5Dhttp://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8646/target004js9.jpg) [/IMG]
Dang V-Archer, that one cannot get any more center, I mean, it must have intersected the x perfectly!!!!
Good, no, Great Shooting!!!!!
Nice shooting guys :archer: :biglaugh:
Wish I could shoot half that good sometime.
Well, half as good would be....29! Come on you can do that good! lol
v-archer , nice shootin :0)
My question is what type of aiming is Rod Jenkins, X2, and V-Archer using? Are they instinctively aiming or do they use another method? It sure is great shooting and gives me something to strive for.
That is a good question Greg. I just look at the target at that distance.
I know one night I was out and had a glow dot in the center and my groups were small enough to be all in the center. They were just off the dot. I think concentration on a spot is critical. I plan to go out again on a dark night and use a laser pointer and try again.
Greg,
I use Terry Green's "clock" form and followed Rod Jenkins tips (in one of the previous on-line tournament posts) Then I just focus on the target and release the arrow. I must say with this one I had to warm-up quite a bit before I had it going.

This was shot at Archer's Advantage, in Little Rock,AR. Thanks Brent (bgremill)
Thanks also to ks_stickbow for organizing; and Nighthawk for posting my first 4.
Shot a consistent average of 42. I need to make more time to shoot during the week. At least I was shooting, weekends...

This has been a blast and good for all of us. Thanks for hosting and let's do it again.
Apologies for the terrible pic this week. Again, I used my Jerry Hill Wildcat... 50.

Last but not least Wk.5 I forgot to write my score of (51) on the target which was my best for this tourney. (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/JOHN4Mystikbow/100_3852.jpg)
This was fun and somewhat of a learning experience for me since I never shoot paper targets only 3D's. I will join the next one in a heartbeat. Thanks Jeff for getting this going.
When are we going to do the next one?
Pretty typical for me. Don't know how some of you do it....I couldn't shoot some of these with a compound and release....amazing. You can see why I keep my kill shots well inside of 20 yards!

If I remember, I have a 44, 46, 40, 45 and a 46. Look forward to the next one and thanks for all the hard work. Steve

Thanks Jeff for letting us participate in this!
I learned alot and can't wait until the next one!
Thanks for having this. Kept me shooting.

It is interesting how many of us have 3 pretty good arrows and then 2 fliers.
Wish that I had seen this thread earlier so that I could participate. Any chance of geeting in on it now?
Snag, I noticed that myself. In my case my fliers
are the first one or two then I really bare down and concentrate better on the next three. Gotta work on that concentration thing from the get go.
Can't do 5 arrows. GP Cazador recurve, tapered cedars. I'll let you guess arrow 5 (http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg175/aldean_photos/target11.jpg)

Here's my week 5. I will get better I hope. This has been fun and thanks Jeff for hosting it and bringing up the idea. I'd love to do it again, but first I have to figure out how X2 is stealing my target photos and posting them as his- only in my dreams.
Bodork, score 36.
I switched to my carbons for this week. Guess I shoulda stuck with the woodies. (Wait a minute, I think I just violated rule #12.) I meant to say, at least I have plenty of room for improvement!

Unfortunatly it looks like I am going to miss this week. I cant make it to the store and my printer is out of ink!! :banghead: :banghead: Thanks for putting this together!! Hopefully we can do it again real soon.
After about an hour fussing with Photobucket and Imageshack, once again here's my score without a pic. This week it was 8,8,9,10,10 for a total of 45. Guess I ended up right where I should have, since my average for the 4 weeks I shot is also 45.

I missed the noon deadline on week 5, but have had fun shooting with ya'll! Thanks for allowing me to play and good shooting guys!
Bodork, I hear you. Working on heavy carbons in preparation for Africa, this tourney has definitely been a good workout. I feel your yanking one off the target - 2 weeks ago I had my best score going with first 4 in the 10 ring then yanked one low....arrghhh.
I'd like to see something like setting up a target each week and shooting 5 "cold" shots at it during the week....that would be telling for me! YIkes....this has been fun.
Fellas, thank you for a great tourney....this was fun. I wish I could have shot my week 5 target but got to much happening right now....you guys did awesome and I commend those who turned in all 5 targets....The tittle (whatever it is) has to go to X2 who only missed 6 points from a perfect score of 300....incredible. I have all the score and some statisticle data in an excell spreadsheat if anyone wants it I can email it to them. or if some one had a server they can post it on and make it available to all that would be great......AGAIN THANK YOU GUYS!!!!
I would love to see more of these on here. Unfortunatly I won't be able to host any real soon...not untill I get settled in somewhere and getting me a place to shoot. I'm sure some one on here can cary the torch.

I looked forward to this each week. If I was computer savy I would carry this on. Hopefully someone will. It would great to have this each week. It really made me concentrate on my form and that little X. I know I have improved a little. Just another step in the right direction. Thanks Jeff and Rod and thanks to everyone that shot!
Thanks Jeff for hosting this!! Thanks everyone else for participating!! I know it got me focusing on my form. Even though my scores on paper didn't really improve, my shots at my 3d targets definitely got better!!
Thanks Again,
David
