Title: Making a sheath?
Post by: wisconsinteacher on July 21, 2010, 09:22:00 PM
I need to make a sheath for a knife.  I have the leather but have no clue on how to make the pattern or construct the sheath.  The knife has a straight blade that is 5.5" long.

It's not hard to do per se, but do be aware you can make
a left-handed sheath when you may really need a righty   :D  ,
been there and done did it.

Yes do check out the site Bob T. recommands. The thread on "wet forming" has some great info that should help you.
Tandy Leather is another source for the do-it-yourself person. They have a couple of books on making cases and knife sheaths.

Check out the links.  Making a usable sheath is easy.  Making a really nice sheath, not always so easy but always rewarding.

Seems like I spend as much time making a sheath as I do the knife that goes in it.
