Title: Anvil stands
Post by: Roughcountry on June 29, 2010, 12:31:00 AM
What do you guys like for anvil stands? My big chunk of wood is finaly gonna split so I'm looking for ideas. If I use a stump again I'm gonna rawhide it.

I just built one that has 2 x 4 x 1/4" legs with 1/2" pads and a 12 x 18 x 1" top.  Weighs about 80 pounds and it only cost me like $40 for the steel at the scrap yard.  Plus another well spend $20 for them to cut the top to size.  Now I just need to get it painted.

Here's a few:  www.anvilfire.com/iForge/tutor/jd_stand/index.htm (http://www.anvilfire.com/iForge/tutor/jd_stand/index.htm)

I just built one with 2x12s and plywood; works great.

Thanks guys, just what I was looking for. I have two big anvils so I'll most likely have one that won't move and a portable stand.
I have a meatal stand for one that is to high, may be able to cut it down although the bottom is a very large casting.

Like Jeremy said!  Anvil Stands   I built Figure #22 stand that I think performs very well.  And I have worked on an anvil using Figure #11.
