RH,
I posted a picture of my labs retrieving arrows about a week ago, in it I was shooting my 58" Hunter II, Maple/Bubinga with Elm limbs. Here it is...

Very nice, wish I could get my german shepard to do that.Good lookin bow.

Robert, I also have a Hunter I which is Shedua/Bubinga with Black Locust limbs
that is really good looking. I like that combo better than the Maple/Bubinga, to tell the truth...
Here's a bit better picture of the Hunter II...

If it was me and I was not sure what kind of wood I wanted, I would call the bowyer and tell him to make it like it was for him (what he would like for wood). Then sit back and wait for the surprise.
To me all the woods that are used in bows are beautiful. Alan

Here are a few different wood combo's I've had.

I've got some pics that aren't on my site--shoot me an e-mail and I'll reply with them.

Twoarrows, what's the wood on the first two bows?I like the looks of them.
-
Hey Chad , how about putting those pics on your site so all can see ;)
-
Robert- it's coco, not highly figured and not the greatest photo but up close it was a real nice shooting and looking bow.
-
Try Coco and Osage, it is very nice, also one that ya do not see often is Purpleheart and Osage. Shawn
-
If you look on Chad's site. My bow is the cocobolo riser and black walnut limb examples. It is a great shooting/ great looking combination.
-
Hey Coachy--we are working on it. One problem is I am obviously not any good at photography. Another is my webmaster is a friend who gives me a great deal, but doesn't have a lot of time to devote to the site. Sorry about that--we'll get more on there as soon as we can though.

shweeewww, that's sweet bmoeller. That one melts my wax.Gonna see if I can find one in stock somewhere,if not guess I'll have to wait for one.You guys are the best.Thanh you very much.

Another option I would look at is Bocote and Macassar Ebony for the riser. I've seen some other brand bows with this combo and thats what I'm gonna get next time.
Thanks for the comments on my bow.

Here's mine, which ya probably already have seen-
Riser: Shedua/Bubinga
Limb- Black Locust

CMR,I saw your bow and it made me realize what a good lookin bow chek mate's are.I settled on all bocote risre/maple limbs with bocote veneers.I'll have to wait on it,I hope they shoot like they look.
-
Rob, you'll like that combo. I know I do. I will let you know that in my pics that those are the second limbs I had to get. The first ones had very small air bubbles developing between the clear glass and the veneers. Called chad and he called Chekmate. Well They had another set made up in about a week and a half, because I had a draw hunt coming up and really wanted to use that bow. My new limbs came back as flat grain Bocote. They still are real pretty but not as pretty as the Birdseye Bocote. Make sure you specify Birdseye Bocote venners.
Chad said I could send the new limbs back no problem, but after shooting them I said I'll take those.
Just to let you know.

My favorite is the CUJO special. LBR should be able to explain.
Good Luck on your bow!

BMOELLER,thanks for the info.I didn't specify birdseye,it wasn't a choice on the form.I have sent Chad an email to try and find out if I can get birdseye bocote as the limb veneers.I've been buggin that poor guy to death.
-
I bugged him too, but I guess thats what he's there for. Answer questions and make sure you get what you want. And yes its not on the form but after looking at some of the pics on the site I was under the impression that that is what I would get. Better to let him know than be disapointed.

Nice looking bow, Brian. I really like the looks of bocote. I've got a chekmate Sabre on order with a comination riser of bocote and cocobolo. It should look nice. I thought about bocote veneers, but opted for black walnut and clear glass. I may have to order a set with bocote veneers in the future.
