The idea we had was to make my customer a personal carry "Field Utility" that he could carry most anywhere in his home state and be legal at under 5 1/2".
He liked the Spalted Maple and then I talked him into some W2 with this result in mind.
I wanted the black lines induced around the hamon to "dance" with the spalting in the maple.
I even got some nice hamon display on the spine.
416 Stainless take-down assembly.
Perfect balance on this knife and should offer him many years of service.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Where you see the hamon is where the clay was.
W2 can be a little higher in Carbon than 1095, has a small amount of chromium which 1095 does not, some molybdenum and vanadium, which 1095 is deficient of as well.
