Title: CKT Caper going to Atlanta & Robin
Post by: tippit on May 31, 2010, 02:42:00 PM
It's not a Columbia River caper but a Campbell-Keeslar-Tippit caper  :)   Last year I was lucky enough to win Roughcountry's ST Judes Sheath...but my forge was down all winter.  Here it is St Judes Time again and Robin will have to make Two Sheaths this year!

Calling in a debt that late needs a little sugar coating so I've been coming up with a knife for Robin.  He wanted a little bigger & a little less drop Campbell caper and had some ideas on sheathing that flared finger guard.

This knife gave me fits as the edge warped when quenched.  I re-straightened and re-quenched two more times.  Also re-ground it two more times cause I just was happy with the look.  The great thing about that was the exercise in being able to fix it!  In the past, I would have just thrown it away and started over.

I'll add a curly maple handle once the Blade Show & Bear Quest are over. With most of my blades are going to Bear Quest and since I can't use this caper, I'll at least have one knife to bring to the Blade Show for show & tell...tippit

That is a good looking knife!  And nice paracord job, too.  Dan

Dang, Thats a lot of sugar coating Doc.Thats a good looking blade. Throw it in and try it out on the bear hunt. That would give it more mojo and I need all I can get.

Looking forward to doing your sheath, hope you've been thinking about what you want.
Have a good time at the show and your hunt. RS
