Well for some time now Doug and I have been mates. We met here on Trad Gang a number of years ago and we keep in touch from time to time, sharing hunts, pics and the likes. You see I love the American West and I think Dough always liked the idea of hunting aussie.
I've always wanted one of Dougs knives, but when he made me ones in the past I had a NZ trip planned out and no spare $$. Well.... finally I woke up to myself as Dough wont be making these fine knives forever!
So .... below is what Doug made for me. What can I say Doug.... your a pure gentleman and fine craftsmen. As you know already mate, once you have those seats booked for aussie, your hunting guide awaits.

Thanks again mate, I'll put it to good use.

Thats a real looker Al.
I have one of Dougs capers also.
My favorite test for a blade is to peel the hide on a Beaver.
They are the type of skinning job that requires you to cut every inch of hide off. I've peeled around 6 or 7 beaver with my caper now and it's the one I go to for that job. The blade must hold a edge way above average and be ultra controlable in the hand for this task.
If you ever get the urge to trap beaver you have the perfect skinner for the job.

I have 4 of Doug's creations, a damascus large caper with warthog ivory scales, a damascus custom hunter with sheep horn handle, another damascus hunter with an ebony handle with pierce points and a carbon hunter with oosic handle, Love them all.
