Can't help ya in Moorsville, no good trad shops in NC! least not in my area. Where is Moorsville close too?
-
Sorry..Mooresvile is 30 miles north of Charlotte.
-
Think there is a huge Gander Mt there?? still I am too far from there to help ya.
Sorry,
Jason

There is a Gander Mtn. and Bass Pro nearby. I'm looking for a smaller specialized place, if it exists? I have a Sportmans Warehouse here in Anchorage and also a small shop, but 95% compound gear.

Mark, Eagle's Flight Archery is located in Mebane, NC, which is about 100 mile north of Charlotte and just off I 40 & 85. We carry new and used recurve and longbows as well as other archery related items.
We also manufacture the "Mini" bowquiver here at this facility.
If you get a chance, come see us. Bring your bow, or we can loan you one to shoot.

Mark, there are no trad shops any where close to Mooresville. There is a shop in China Grove about 20 miles east of Mooresville that twin sisters run but it too is 95% compound stuff. Almost 100% of the trad gear I've bought has come from 3 rivers or kustom king. I know it is alot more fun to walk around a shop where you can touch and feel things but I'm sorry to say you'll be dissapointed at least in that aspect of your visit.

Mark, Carolina Traditional Archers is having a shoot on Feb. 10th with a pig picking. Its right outside hickory. Very close to Mooreville. There will be all kinds of bows to shoot there.

Mark, Stop in and visit with Ben and Linda Graham of Hummingbird bows. They are located about 25 miles west of Mooresville in Mt. Pleasant. It would be well worth your trip. They carry a fair amount of traditional supplies at their shop. You could also check out their line of custom longbows and recurves. You will not meet better people than Ben and Linda. If you could time your visit in the afternoon you might even get an invite for supper and Linda's cooking alone would be well worth the trip from Alaska. They also have a nice 3D range out back. Give them a call. The phone number is (704)436-2509. God bless, Scott.

Thank you for the responses. We will be travelling around a bit, so I might make it to Mebane.
Night Stalker-Anything going on the first week of March?
I am planning on alot of fishing-visiting family and they live on Lake Norman ?? I wish my trip was during spring turkey season.

Thanks Scott

Sorry, nothing that I know of. We have a monthly shoot. Do a search for Carolina Traditional Archers.
-
Mark, I'll second what The Night Stalker said. February 10th at the Carolina Archery Club is the time and place to be. They know how to roast a pig, and I believe that first time visitors get a free pass to shoot and eat. (You can bill me if I'm wrong.)
What Scott said about Ben and Linda Graham is a good idea also. Ben makes a great bow. (He ought to pay me for all the times I've said that.) Just one word of advice. Don't get into a shooting contest with Linda.

Mark, The CTA shoot will have a few vendors. The web site is thecta.org for directions. What type of trad stuff are you looking for?

You know, I'm not looking for anything in particular...I am always interested in "something" just nothing specific. thanks for the website. AK is a great place to live, it just lacks the variety of good outdoor stores.

There is a place in Kannapolis called Poor Boys Achery. They are east of Mooresville maybe 20-30 mins. Never been there just seen them at a shoot and picked up one of theyre fliers. Look it up in the phone book when you get to town and give them a call. I tried to go by there one time but ran short on time and didn't make it. If I happen to get by there I will get you some directions. I think they mainly build bows and arrows not much retail.
