Title: Bow weight reduction DVDs for longbows...
Post by: TSP on January 27, 2008, 08:40:00 AM
Anyone know of any?  I've got a longbow that needs some work done and might just give it a try if I could find a decent instructional DVD/video.  Have seen 'discussions' but never a solid 'A to Z', step-by-step filmed layout of how its done.

I mean, how hard can it be?

I had my buddy take 1/8" off each side of my flatbow.it dropped 13#. He did it on a belt sander. Then I had to smooth the edges, round them off a little, and now I need to stain and finish the edges.

Weight reduction is more then taking a little off of the edges.  You need to know what your doing or you will end up with limbs leaning and a significant loss of stability in the limb.

Talk to the bowyer and get a recommendation or sell the bow and get a lighter one.
