My father gave me this knife to use as an all-arounder.
Do any of you crafters recognize the wood used?

It has seen better days and I would like to get some tips on 'sprucing it up' a bit..
I was thinking polishing both the sheat, blade and handle, but I don't have the faintest clue what to use?
The sheat is scraped, but not dried up..
Thank you for all help and/or tips :)

Considering the style and its origin, I would be tempted to guess spalted birch.
Cleaning with really fine sandpaper followed by wetting with mineral oil will bring life back to the handle.
A little mineral oil on the sheath might help as well.

Thanks Karl! I'll get some mineral oil and 1000grit sandpaper tomorrow!
