Title: Back Home Again
Post by: Doug Campbell on March 13, 2010, 10:46:00 AM
Hey Gang, My lovely wife Karen and I got home and are getting re-acclimated to MT again. After goofing off for three weeks in Hawaii I've got to put nose to the grindstone to make up for it.  ;)

Spent a fair bit of time with a fellow knife maker Craig Kaneshiro, who's registered here but doesn't post much. He hooked me up with some great Hawaiian hardwoods, curly koa, lychee, pheasant wood and macadamia. Hopefully it's going to show up via USPS Priority Mail soon. After the high humidity of HI it'll have to sit for a spell to get "used" to Montana but looking forward to posting pics in the future.

THAT KOA CAN BE BREATHTAKING. THERE IS MUSEUM IN HONOLULU THAT WAS A PALACE AT ONE TIME. ALL THE WOOD WORK IN THE BUILDING IS KOA. SECURITY WAS WATCHING ME VERY CLOSELY OR SOME MIGHT HAVE MADE ITS WAY TO PENNSY!

Doug, welcome back to CONUS and to the Forum!  Sounds like you got a chance to recharge your batteries!

Looking foward to seeing your knives with your new materials, in due time of course!

You've got work to do.
