Where do you guys that use mineral oil as a quenchant get your oil? Can you buy it by the gallon and is it hard to find? I'm wanting to "upgrade" from what I'm using now and it seems that mineral oil is the next best thing to a "proper" quenchant. Thanks.

Any farm-type store will have it.
Any place that carries horse/animal supplies.
Ask your local vet if those options fail.

Thanks. There's a feed supply place close to where I work. I'll check there.

I think I got some at Walmart??? I'd think a pharmacy would carry it, too. But probably neither of those would have large containers of it.

Kuch, thanks. I'm going to try Greens down in Charleston today. I had to come in to work today so I figure I'll make the best of it! LOL... I saw that post about the King Oil Co. quenchant and was interested. I am anxious to see the results of it's use. I have family that live very near there and if the reviews of the stuff are good, I'll have him pick me some up when he's making a trip down this way.
Let me know how the quenchant works out. I told a buddy of mine about it and we may go in half on it. 2.5 gallons will last me a loooooong time at the pace I make knives.

Thanks for the help guys. I found mineral oil at the local feed store in gallon jugs. Now if the weather ever breaks I can get back to working on some knives.
