Title: Belt tracking on grizzly vs coote
Post by: shortstroke 91 on February 07, 2010, 01:58:00 PM
Just wondering if one is truly better than the other in this category. I'm sure it's been asked time and time again but if you only had $500 or so to spend what would you buy as far as grinders go? I'm currently using the cheapest HF 1 x 30 with decent to good results and there's no way I can dish out the $1000+ for the high end models, also no way I can manage the DIY. I'm sure I'd screw something up in the making and it'd cost twice as much by the time I'm finished.

With the belt tension all the way up my griz tracks just as good as my bader. Just my 2 cents.

I've never run a Grizzly but my first grinder 20 years ago was the Coote and it's been run many hundred hours since. Still as solid as the day I got it although my variable speed KMG sees most of the action now days...  ;)

I have not tweaked my new grizzly tracking in yet, and the work rest has alot to be desired!  That said, it's a vast improvement over my old 4x36 and works well.  I considered the Coote, but did not want to shop for a motor. If I had to do it over again, I would buy the Griz!
