Title: For cutting those juicy bow killed steaks...
Post by: Doug Campbell on January 11, 2010, 10:27:00 PM
Thought y'all might like to see what I finished up this weekend and shipped today. Somewhere in South Dakota a lucky young bride will be getting some nice eating utensils. Her parents were guests here on the Ranch this summer and were looking at some of my knives. One evening at dinner they asked me if I could build a set of Damascus steak knives for them. They were looking for an heirloom wedding gift for their daughter and future Son-in-Law. Well after much discussing this is what they decided on. Damascus steel, full taper tang, buffalo horn scales and nickel silver pins.

And they'll double up as gutters and skinners if she wants...     :bigsmyl:

Thanks for looking.

Whoa!   That lucky son-in-law! Those are awesome!
Wish my wife's parents would have gotten us something like that instead of the 'good silver' that we never use!!

WOW that is heirloom quality for sure! Best thing is her parents had good taste for quality and to think and ask for such a gift! Good job! Wish my inlaws were that considerate! lol

I have a feeling those would start to dissapear from our kitchen. One on my belt, one in my Turkey huntin pack, one in the early season pack, one in the late season pack, etc!

Beautiful set Doug!

Did they ask for a sheath for each one?

Those are exceptional. My hat's off to you for such a fine project. Kevin is right, to make duplicates is a difficult thing. Lin

Doug, that is one of the nicest sets I have ever seen!  Awesome!

I too would like to hear if they have sheaths or a case of some sort.

Folks, there is a lesson hidden there, an extra one for insurance.  When it has to be right, giving yourself some room for mistakes.

Dan

Thanks for the compliments everyone, they turned out nice but it got real tedious time I got them all done.

No sheaths for them, I would have liked to have done a nice "presentation" box and had several ideas but just don't have time. Got some serious business coming up in June that is requiring most of my attention. They planned to have something built for them.

Sorry Karl...  ;)

Saaawwweeeeeeetttt work right there Doug!

That is just an *awesome* set of steak knives.

Are you throwin' in some neck sheaths so the guests can wear 'em right proper at the dinner table when they sit down to that juicy Porterhouse, Prime rib, Filet mignon, or whatever cut is???

;~)

Shoot straight, Shinken

Thanks again everybody, it's very nice to have your work appreciated. Most of these guys with a little experience under their belts could pull it off, really just a matter of taking your time and paying attention to detail...

Yes Dan, that's the plan but lots of work to do before then, glad I've got a few months to get ready. Got a few more "orders" to get done but the test knives are coming along.

Amazing set of utensils there Doug! In laws like that are hard to find. Hope that son in law knows what craftmanship he's getting. Better behave himself as well, that gal will have her hands full of sharp things.
