Hi
I am Danish traditional bowhunter and I am 32 years old. My wife's dad grew up in a Danish society in Argentina in Negochea so my wife has a big family in Argentina that we are planning to visit some day, and therefore I am investigating the possibilities for combining such a trip with some serious bowhunting.
I have been travelling in Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in 3 travels from 1995 to 1999. Therefore Spanish is not a barrier to me.
I am interested in almost any kind of game, small game and big game, although I do not yet feel experienced enough to take on dangerous big game like water buffalo. The most important thing for me is to do some exciting bowhunting with good chances for some action, and from what I have read Argentina has a lot of opportunities. So any advice on where to go and who to contact or just good bowhunting stories from Argentina would be highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Jon, Denmark
Hei Jon.
Hello Jon. I do not know anything about bowhunting in Argentina, but would like to say hello. We met in Denmark a few times. We have shot DM together and I remember we exchanged some sinew for flint. Oddbjørn.
A guy I knew went to Argentina to do some dove hunting. He told me that he believes there to be a virtually untapped bowhunting resource down there. It sounds as if there are a lot of opportunities and few people taking advantage of them. I would contact Neil Summers of bowhunting consultants. If anyone knows it would be him.
Can't get easier than....

Hello Oddbjørn
Great to hear from you. I still have some of the sinew you gave me around 10 years ago! So far I have used some it for strengthening bows around knots and repairing a "legolas-recurve" that broke into two pieces due to a bad ash backing. I glued it together, gave it a sinew backing and could shoot it afterwards without problems.
Jonsimoneau, I have the same impression that Argentina has a great potential that is not widely known. Exciting and challenging. I have seen that bowhunting consultants offer quite pricey bowhunts in Argentina but they are perhaps the best guarantee that you get what you pay for. My experience from previous travels in South America have shown me that you do not always know what to expect.
Dave, earlier I have tried to contact http://www.bowhuntingargentina.com/ but did not get a reply. Perhaps I need to try again in Spanish.
Thanks everyone so far.
Best regards,
Jon, Denmark
I haven't been there myself, but I do know several guys that have. They talk quite highly about the red stag and apparently some very big pigs. In the checking on it I have done, they also list blackbuck antelope and puma or mountain lion.
I have just gotten contact with the following company:

They seem to be experienced with bowhunting and offer several opportunities, species and accomodations, so I look forward to hear about their initial proposal.
Too bad you didn't ask sooner, I know Dick Robertson just left for Argentina yesterday. He'll be there a month I believe. He emailed me just to rub it in...
Asian water buff, red stag, blackbuck, puma, boar and white lipped peccary are big game available. All of which but the blackbuck should be doeable with trad gear. Check with Safari Club International they should have a good list of current operators in Argentina.
