Title: Where should I stop?
Post by: rg176bnc on January 26, 2008, 05:50:00 AM
I shoot a 46#@26" BL Hunter.  Im shooting GT35/55.  I get good arrow flight regardless of how much weight I put up front.  Im front loading w/ the screw in weights.  I friend of mine (with a much longer draw) likes 800 grains+- Im thinking 700.  Plan on elk hunting this fall. I dont really want to fool w/ changing weight all the time.  At what point do you think Im getting into overkill w/ the arrow weight?  I would like to use Snuffers, but think I will go w/ the 2 blade Stingers on the elk just for peace of mind.  Thanks in advance!

i think the ideal weight is 10-12 grains per pound of draw...so a 460 grain to 552 grain arrow should be ideal for your bow...the heavier end of the spectrum should be plenty for elk.

I agree with rappstar, and definately go with a 2-blade for Elk with that set up. Get close and a broadside shot, you will be fine
