Title: insawool alternative?

the title says it all does anybody have any ideas for a cheap alternative?

It's not expensive and you can buy it by the foot.
I built my largest forge over a year ago and it looks like the day I made it, even with flux damage from making Damascus.
I probably don't have $16.00 worth of Inswool in it.

not that i want to cheap out but i cant find a canadian supplier. even though our dollar is fairly strong the shipping would cost as much as the insawool.maybe i shouldnt have said said cheaper just an alternative that would work. if not im gonna have to bite the bullett and order some.thanks guys

just checked it out on the ellis site  31 bucks for 5 feet 50 to get shipped to me.and then we roll that over to can prices and im looking at 100-120 dollars

I just googled "ceramic suppliers in canada" check out greenbarn.com and here's a link to a Pdf pg. 26 for   Fiberfax Durablanket (http://www.greenbarn.com/PDFs/G_KILNS%20and%20SHELVES%2023_27.pdf)  rated to 2400 F.

ALso, right where I get mine here in Chicago, Harbison Walker, has a distribution center in Edmonton.
Go here:  http://www.hwr.com/
click on "locations" and then "distribution centers".
Scroll down and you'll find a map and a Harison Walker in Edmonton.
Maybe they can tell you where to buy small amounts.
Another point to consider, when buying materials for making knives, buy them with the forethought that you WILL NEED MORE IN THE FUTURE!
When I bought mine, I bought a full box of 25 feet. I'll have it when I need it.
